Mmm…Bone Broth

Broth isn’t for everyone – but it’s definitely my jam.  And while it may take time to brew – it’s not labor intensive.  It’s packed full of nutrient dense minerals and collagen which is great for our insides and outsides (yay for better hair, skin and nails)!!

What it’s gonna take:

  • 1 lb. bones (grass fed beef, chicken, etc.)
  • 1 Cup carrots
  • 1 Cup celery
  • 8 Cups water
  • Cheese cloth
  • Crock Pot

How to proceed:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Roast bones for 60 minutes (flipping half way through)
  3. Chop carrots and celery (large chunks are fine)
  4. Cover the bottom of your crockpot with carrots and celery
  5. Add roasted bones to crockpot
  6. Cook on HIGH for ~ 8-12 hours
  7. Turn down to LOW for ~ 24-48 hours
  8. Remove bones, carrots and celery (a strainer works well for this)
  9. Secure cheese cloth over top of jar
  10. Strain remaining liquid through cheese cloth into jar for storage
  11. Cool
  12. Store in refrigerator for up to one week (or freeze)
  13. Enjoy as warm drink or incorporate into recipes!
